Getting back into my writing routine means writing routine things. I missed writing last month’s resolution update in both senses of the word: it never got written and I felt its absence. I like checking in on myself and my goals here. It helps keep me on track in a way that (usually) don’t feel like I’m beating myself up.
Resolution #1: Protect my time
I won’t rehash my last post too much, but I had this resolution in mind when I took my accidental break from my blog and I don’t regret it.
I’ve even had a few free weekends lately! Consecutive ones! If I hadn’t taken that time, I might still been burned out with no desire to write for myself.
Resolution #2: Listen to my body
New Basic Bitchcelos achievement unlocked: your girl has been going to barre and yoga classes. I haven’t been going long enough to call it a habit just yet, so I won’t go too much in depth just yet.
I’ll always have the urge to be the best one in the room no matter what I’m doing; it’s just who I am. But I am proud of myself for knowing what my limits are and pushing them without hurting myself. I’m pushing myself to be better, not to be the best in the room.
Resolution #3: Declutter my life
My closet purge has been continuing at a crawl. I’ll pull things out, set them aside… and then forget about them? I’m not talking about the things nice enough to sell on Poshmark, though that’s also a bit of a problem. I’ve had some things for sale for a while now with no takers, so they’re just taking up space.
It’s more like the t-shirts I don’t even wear to work out, jeans that are several sizes too small and wearing thin in ways that aren’t fashionable, worn out old shoes. Throwing them out seems wasteful. Giving them to someone seems wrong.
